Malin replaces Wieser
Just before kickoff, there's a change in the Liechtenstein starting lineup. Sandro Wieser is out and will be replaced by Andreas Malin.
First encounter in 14 years
Liechtenstein and Scotland have only faced each other twice in international matches. The two teams met during the qualification for the UEFA Euro 2012, with the home and away games taking place in September 2010 and October 2011. Liechtenstein lost 1–2 away at Hampden Park and suffered a 0–1 defeat at home.
Hasler and Wieser with Scotland experience
Liechtenstein’s captain Nicolas Hasler is the only player who has already faced the Scots twice. In 2010 at Hampden Park, he made his second international appearance when he came on as a late substitute. A year later, in the return match in Vaduz, he was already a regular starter for the Liechtenstein team. Now, 100 international matches later, Nicolas Hasler has the chance to play his third game against Scotland today.
The second still-active national team player to feature in the away match was Sandro Wieser. He was already part of the starting lineup back then but missed the home game.
A change in the Liechtenstein team
Compared to last Friday’s World Cup qualifier in Wales, there has been one change in the Liechtenstein squad. Instead of Johannes Schädler, national coach Konrad Fünfstück can count on Luca Beck for the match against Scotland.
No video assistants
In today’s friendly match, the referee team will have to make close calls without the support of video footage, as there will be no video assistant referee (VAR) in use.
Fan Festival in the Heart of Vaduz
Ahead of the match against Scotland, a large fan zone will open in the center of Vaduz starting at 11 a.m.
